What Is A Facelift?

Facelifts allow patients to correct the aesthetic issues associated with aging and dramatic weight loss. A facelift from Dr. Zamora provides a more youthful and rested appearance and improves your facial tone. When you step into the offices of Dr. Sergio Zamora, you will be confident that you are in the hands of someone who pays tremendous attention to detail. A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure to improve wrinkles and lines in the face and neck. Regaining tighter and more youthful skin is one of the top reasons patients opt for facelifts.

Benefits of a Facelift

The primary benefit of the facelift is the improvement of your overall facial appearance, and the resulting boost it gives to your confidence and self-esteem. Sagging in your mid-face can create hollowing below the eyes, sometimes called tear troughs, as well as deep creases between the nose and mouth, making a person appear tired and sad.

Loose skin and excess fatty deposits under your chin can create the dreaded “double chin” or “turkey gobbler” neck. If you are starting to notice wrinkles, lines, folds, creases, and sagging skin in your face, you may be an excellent candidate for a facelift.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate For A Facelift?

A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is ideal for a man of woman who is uncomfortable with their facial appearance because of sagging skin, hallowing below the eyes, and/or widening creases in different parts of the faces.

What Do I Need To Do Before A Facelift?

Just like any other surgery, it’s important to make preparations for your facelift procedure, including preparing your home for your recovery period, arranging for assistance in the first 24 hours after your procedure, and doing the following pre-operative preparations:

  • Have an overall health check-up
  • Complete necessary blood work
  • Discontinue use of aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain vitamins and other supplements two weeks prior to your procedure
  • Cease smoking two weeks prior to your procedure
  • Alter, adjust or discontinue your current daily medications temporarily based on Dr. Zamora’s recommendation

IN OUR CLIENTS' OWN WORDS

What Should I Expect On The Day Of My Facelift?

Incisions for your facelift often begin in the hairline at the temple and continue around the ears and end in the lower scalp. Fat may be redistributed as the underlying tissue is repositioned. Endotines, which are small dissolvable implants, will anchor and support the lifted tissue. Your skin is redraped over the uplifted contours, and any excess skin is trimmed away. Another incision under your chin may be necessary to further improve an aging neck, and liposuction may be utilized here as well. The incisions will be closed with fine sutures, leaving you with a fully restored, younger face, as sutures close your incisions and dressings are applied. A bandage is gently placed around your face to minimize any swelling and bruising.

How Long Does It Take To Perform A Facelift?

A facelift can transform and rejuvenate your appearance, making you feel more confident and attractive, and the facelift surgery is normally performed in three to four hours.

What To Expect After A Facelift?

You may experience tenderness, discomfort, bruising, redness, and temporary skin numbness, but these typically resolve within a few weeks. Dr. Zamora recommends that your head be kept elevated at all times until initial swelling has subsided. Until you feel completely comfortable with heavier foods, you’ll want to stick to broths, soups, and drinks during the recovery period. Light, normal activity may be resumed in about one week, and patients usually return to work within two to four weeks. Cosmetics can usually camouflage any bruising that remains. Healing will continue for several weeks as swelling resolves and incision lines fade. Skincare should be resumed once the healing process is fully complete.

Will I Have Scars After Getting A Facelift?

Your facelift from Dr. Zamora will improve your facial tone, as it provides a more youthful and rested appearance to you. During your consultation, Dr. Zamora will answer any questions that you have about getting scars after your facelift.

When Will I See The Results?

A facelift is the most comprehensive procedure available to erase facial wrinkles, creases, folds, and sagging skin that may be caused by the aging process. The majority of patients will usually require about a week to two weeks to recover from the facelift procedure, and total healing usually takes one month to two months, at which point you will see the full results. It may take several months for swelling to fully resolve and incision lines to mature.

What Are Possible Complications Of A Facelift?

During your facelift consultation with Dr. Zamora, the procedure will be explained in detail, as Dr. Zamora takes all the time necessary to find out about your goals for the surgery, in addition to discussing any possible complications of a facelift procedure.

How Long Will The Results Of A Facelift Last?

The results of your facelift will allow you to age gracefully and last for a very long time, which is why a facelift with Dr. Zamora is such an invaluable investment in your current and future happiness, self-confidence, and self-esteem. For most patients, the facelift procedure provides results that are visible for approximately 10 years. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will help extend your resultant youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

How Much Does a Facelift Cost in Daytona Beach?

Because each patient has a different goal in mind, your facelift costs will vary. During your consultation, all of your questions will be answered, and we will give you a better idea of what to expect for your fee. Fees are typically paid for in advance, and in addition to accepting cash, checks, and most major credit cards, we also offer convenient financing.

Facelift FAQs?

How long does a facelift last?

Generally, patients can expect the results from their facelift to last at least 10 years. However, it is important to note that the results from a facelift are truly permanent, and the only thing that impacts these results is your continued aging, genetics, and lifestyle. The 10-year average is an estimate, adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes a physician grade skin care program can prolong your results beyond the 10 years.

What is the best age for a facelift?
There is no perfect age for a facelift. Instead, a facelift is considered appropriate when it is deemed the best solution for addressing a patient’s cosmetic concerns. Generally, if you are experiencing sagging skin, wrinkles and lines that cannot be fully corrected with other techniques, you may be a good candidate for a facelift regardless of your age.
Should I get a facelift or fillers?
The decision to get a facelift or fillers will come down to your treatment goals and the current qualities of your appearance. The facelift procedure is ideal for trimming and tightening excess skin, particularly when skin laxity is a concern. Dermal fillers, instead of tightening the skin, restore volume to the skin with smooth gel-like formulas. This can help fill wrinkles and lines to produce a more youthful appearance but will not correct the underlying issue of loose or sagging skin. Many times, a combination of both are necessary to restore a more youthful appearance.
How painful is a facelift?
During the facelift procedure, general anesthesia is used to keep patients safe and comfortable throughout the surgery. For this reason, there is no pain during the facelift procedure. However, you can expect some pain, bruising and swelling in the days and weeks following your facelift. After your treatment, we will provide you with pain medications and recovery guidelines to help you manage and minimize any discomfort as much as possible.
