The winter months are coming closer and there’s no better time to indulge in some beauty treatments. With treatments that leave your skin feeling extra sensitive, a cloudy sky and some rest indoors are exactly what you need. Let’s uncover the 5 best treatments to do during the most wonderful time of the year.

1.    Laser Hair Removal

During the winter, we think less about the hair beneath our layers of clothes. However, this is the perfect time to remove the hair and get your body ready for the summer months. Laser hair removal is an intensive treatment that can leave your skin feeling more sensitive to light and heat. Wintertime is perfect for you to add on the layers and keep your skin protected from any sun that may be peaking through the clouds. When summer comes, you can shed your layers and reveal your smooth, hairless skin underneath.

2.    IPL Photofacial

The IPL photofacial uses intense pulsed light, or IPL, to treat the deep layers of your skin. This 30-minute treatment resurfaces the skin leaving it looking bright and rejuvenated. However, because the top layers of skin are sloughed off in the process, oftentimes it can feel like you have a light sunburn just after treatment. Having the cool winter breeze and overcast sky can help during your healing process, so you don’t have to worry about the hot sun beating down on your newly resurfaced skin.

3.    Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are similar to the IPL photofacial in what they do– they take off the outer-most layers of skin on the face to reveal a beautiful and smooth complexion underneath. This is done with a specially formulated chemical solution instead of intense pulsed light. However, because you’re getting rid of your protective layering, the new skin on your face is going to feel extra sensitive to your surroundings. Stay inside and bake some festive cookies to avoid any sun peeking through the overcast sky.

4.    Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a more intense and direct version of the two treatments above. For laser skin resurfacing, Dr. Zamora uses a laser to take off the outer-most layers of skin. While this will help even out your skin tone and texture and help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, your skin will be left feeling a little raw. Your face will be covered with bandages immediately following the procedure and you’ll want to leave them on for at least 24 hours. The winter makes it the perfect time to cozy up with some blankets and binge watch some rom-coms on Netflix during your recovery.

5.    Microneedling

Microneedling is a procedure that involves using a special device with very small microneedles that penetrate the skin and create small holes called microchannels. The small penetrations made by the microneedles promote the body’s natural production of collagen or the property that keeps our skin plump and smooth. The microchannels also make it easy for your skin to absorb product. However, the repetition of microneedles penetrating your skin will, of course, leave it feeling sensitive to the sun. The hidden sun in the winter makes it the perfect time of year to get your microneedling sessions in.

Getting these procedures done while it’s cool and overcast is key to a smooth and easy healing process. To learn more about these procedures and how they’ll benefit you, contact us today to schedule your one-on-one consultation with Dr. Zamora.
