Profound is a minimally invasive procedure that transmits radiofrequency into the skin using microneedles. The Profound procedure is offered by Sergio M. Zamora, M.D., FACS, to patients in Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach and surrounding communities in Florida.
What is the Profound Procedure? The Profound procedure is a microneedling treatment that delivers radiofrequency energy to tighten the skin and create more volume and elastic tissue in the face and neck. Radiofrequency energy is delivered through tiny microneedles after they are inserted into the skin. The Profound, by Candela, creates a controlled, monitored, precise thermal injury that will stimulate the body to create new elastic tissue, collagen and hyaluronic acid.
How is the Profound Procedure Performed?Once Dr. Zamora has determined you are a candidate for Profound, an appointment will be scheduled for your treatment. The Profound RF treatment is administered in one single session. A mild sedative can be prescribed and the option of the PRO-NOX nitrous oxide system is available for your comfort. This treatment begins with local anesthesia so that you do not feel any pain during or after the procedure. Once the area being treated is anesthetized, radiofrequency energy is delivered through microneedles that penetrate the skin. After completion of the treatment, you can expect to have some mild swelling and bruising in the area treated for 7-10 days.
What are the Benefits of the Profound Procedure?
- Increases skin volume and tightens loose skin by stimulating the production of collagen,
- Tighter, smoother skin with a reduction in wrinkles.
- Monitors the exact temperature of the tissue being treated.
- Treats cellulite
- Helps increase and replace lost skin volume due to aging
Am I a Candidate for the Profound Procedure? The best candidates for the Profound procedure are those who have loose skin or wrinkles in the jowls, neck, cheeks or upper lip. This treatment is safe for all skin types because the radiofrequency energy does not detect colors. You are not a candidate for this procedure if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, defibrillator or have a history of poorly healing skin.
When Can I Expect to See Results from the Profound Procedure?Generally, results are seen over a period of six to nine months, and some results can be seen as early as two weeks. Profound can be done in conjunction with Core Laser Resurfacing to enhance skin tone and texture to target fine lines and wrinkles. Profound can also be combined with additional fillers and injections for a more dramatic result. They cannot be combined on the same day, but Dr. Zamora will decide the best course of treatment for your desired look.
