What Is A Male Otoplasty?
Prominent ears can be a distraction or a source of unhappiness for many men. Adjusting the ears through ear pinning surgery can improve self-image and balance a handsome face. Otoplasty can correct issues with the natural shape of the ear due to damage or development. This procedure is most frequently used for bringing ears closer to the head or to reduce the size of very large ears. It can also be used to correct other ear problems as well as add in missing folds and creases into the ear to correct cupped ears. Large or stretched earlobes can also be corrected.
Benefits of a Male Otoplasty
Otoplasty surgery has many benefits. It can correct damage to the earlobes, adjust lop ear when the tip of the ear folds forward, and fix cupped ears. It can also reduce the prominent appearance of the ears for a more balanced appearance. After otoplasty surgery, patients feel more comfortable with their appearance and have a boost in self-esteem. The procedure has immediate results.
Who Is The Ideal Candidate For A Male Otoplasty?
Many men who pursue ear pinning surgery have been teased about their ears or are extremely uncomfortable with their appearance. The ideal candidates for ear pinning surgery are men in good overall health with damage to the ear or ears that detract from self-confidence and a naturally handsome appearance. Candidates for otoplasty surgery have ears that are too large or stick out. The ears may be oddly positioned, abnormally shaped, overstretched from earrings, or misshapen due to an injury. The procedure can be appropriate for boys and men of all ages.
What Do I Need To Do Before A Male Otoplasty?
Prior to your ear pinning procedure, avoid contact sports and other activities that may cause damage to the ear. You will want to avoid sun exposure and smoking, as well as any activities which may impact the elasticity of the skin. Be sure to tell the doctor of any supplements or medication you are taking. The doctor will notify you of any medications or supplements you will need to avoid prior to your treatment. If you have a skin or ear infection or other illness, your treatment may need to be rescheduled.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Zamora and Staff. I was unfortunately the victim of a bad Dermatological diagnoses which ultimately required removal of a large portion of right ear. Seeking help of Dr. Zamora to patch up the original surgery which was traumatic to say the least, was the best thing I could have ever done. Dr. Zamora listened patiently to my rant of disgust with Dermatologist, comforted me (83 YR old male) "I got you now and you will be okay"! He outlined the procedure he would take, estimating heal time, assurance I would recover okay.. Time has passed, the surgery and recovery is/has taking place and I am happy to say that I will always recommend Dr. Zamora and staff to anyone needing their services.”

IN OUR CLIENTS' OWN WORDS
What Should I Expect On The Day Of My Male Otoplasty?
Otoplasty procedures are relatively quick and easy. The procedure will be tailored to your specific needs. Dr. Zamora will reshape the ears by removing excess skin and adjusting the cartilage. The ears are then stitched into a pleasing position. Any damage to the ear is repaired. All incision points and stitches will be behind the ears and hidden in the natural creases of the ear. Generally, the doctor uses anesthesia for your complete comfort during the procedure. Dr. Zamora will tell you if you need to bring someone to drive you home afterward.
How Long Does It Take To Perform A Male Otoplasty?
Depending on the desired result or the extent of the damage, the surgery can take two to three hours. Ear pinning procedures can be completed along with other treatments. If you are having multiple treatments completed at the same time, your appointment will take longer.
What To Expect After A Male Otoplasty?
After the procedure, you will be able to go home and participate in some of your regular activities. Adults should take up to five days off from work. Children can go back to school within a week if they are careful about playground activity. The ears should not be bent for a month or so while the delicate skin around the ear heals. The healing process lasts about six weeks after surgery. Dr. Zamora will outline your activity restrictions and other after-care instructions to ensure a successful healing period.

Nearly all otoplasty patients see their results immediately after surgery. There will be a healing period of several weeks. It is important to protect the ears during the protection period.
