Breast Reduction
in Daytona Beach, FL

If you live in Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach and the surrounding communities in Florida, and are suffering from low self-esteem or body pains due to overly large breasts, breast reduction surgery, or reduction mammoplasty, from Sergio M. Zamora MD, FACS may be just what you need to enhance your quality of life.

What Is A Breast Reduction?

Some women are born with breasts that are quite simply too large for their body frame. And unfortunately, back, neck, or shoulder pain, aggravating and painful bra strap marks and rashes as a direct result of large breasts, are all common symptoms of breasts that are too large. Breasts that are too large can be very painful, embarrassing, and unhealthy for a variety of reasons, as they can make common tasks much more difficult than they need to be.

In addition, over-developed breasts can have a tendency to make some women appear as if they are out of shape or overweight, causing individuals to limit their participation in certain activities and exercises. For some women, having large breasts also affects their self-esteem and self-image. Dr. Zamora is a renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon, under his care you can be confident that you are in the hands of a surgeon that is aesthetically gifted, highly competent and well experienced. Dr. Zamora provides expertise in breast reduction surgery, which involves removing fat, excess skin and glandular tissues from your breasts, to restore a proper and healthful harmony to your figure.

Benefits of a Breast Reduction

Breasts that are too large are problematic for a number of reasons. Many women have heavy breasts that cause them back pain and make normal activities difficult. If you suffer from heavy, sagging breasts, or breasts that are disproportionately sized for your body, then a breast reduction procedure may make all the difference in your quality of life.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate For A Breast Reduction?

Overly large breasts can cause back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, and improper posture, and Dr. Zamora recommends breast reduction surgery if the size of your breasts results in chronic pain or if you have difficulty exercising or participating in physical activity because of the weight and size of your breasts. Breast reduction surgery can also help to improve the aesthetic appearance of your breasts if one is significantly larger than the other, so contact us now to set up your breast reduction consultation.

What Do I Need To Do Before A Breast Reduction?

To prepare for a breast reduction, you may be asked by Dr. Zamora to get lab testing, as well as a medical evaluation, and you may need to adjust or discontinue current medications or take certain medications based on Dr. Zamora’s recommendation to prepare for the procedure. It will also be necessary to get a baseline mammogram, and if you smoke, to stop smoking. Prior to your breast reduction procedure, do not take aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and certain herbal supplements. It’s also important to make travel arrangements for someone to drive you to and from your surgery, in addition to arranging for someone to stay with you the first night following your breast reduction surgery.

Cosmetic Breast Surgery and Enhancement in Daytona Beach, FL

IN OUR CLIENTS' OWN WORDS

What Should I Expect On The Day Of My Breast Reduction?

Breast reductions are typically performed under general anesthesia, so you’ll be sleeping throughout the whole procedure. Usually, an incision is made around your areola and down the curve of your breast to the crease. Dr. Zamora will remove extra tissue and fat. Then, the nipple and areola will be repositioned in the center of your breast. Your new breasts will look rounder and shapelier and will have a more youthful appearance. Dr. Zamora can also use liposuction to gently remove excess breast tissue. Liposuction is proven safe and effective at removing extra fat from your breasts, reducing large breasts, or fixing uneven, asymmetrical breasts. Breast reduction using liposuction is best when you don’t have an excess amount of sagging and are mostly concerned with the size and weight of your breasts. It’s also a great choice for patients who can’t tolerate the traditional breast reduction surgery due to a medical condition.

How Long Does It Take To Perform A Breast Reduction?

The breast reduction procedure itself tends to take about two to three hours.

What To Expect After A Breast Reduction?

After your surgery, you will be advised to try to sleep on your back instead of on your side for the first 48 hours. To keep the swelling down, use two pillows to elevate and support both your head and your back. At the time of your surgery, gauze dressings and a bandage wrap will be applied around your chest over a surgical bra. The wrap will be removed two days after surgery. You may shower if you do not have surgical drains and most patients are required to wear a surgical bra for about a month but are usually able to return to work within two weeks of surgery. Patients should not lift anything heavy for three to four weeks, and contact with the breasts should be avoided for six weeks. You should wear your surgical bra both day and night for two to three weeks after your surgery, removing it only for laundering and showering purposes. Your breasts commonly heal quite differently, and one breast may swell more, feel more uncomfortable, or just have a different initial shape, but following your complete healing, your breasts will look remarkably similar and natural. Exercise caution in your movements, as any type of strenuous activity, can induce swelling and bleeding, particularly during the first 10 to 14 days following your surgery, so try to limit your exercise to walking during the first weeks. If your job is of a sedentary nature, you may feel well enough to return to work in seven to 10 days.

Will I Have Scars After Getting A Breast Reduction?

Dr. Zamora will answer any questions you may have about scars after your breast reduction, and if your breasts are not very large, then you may be able to avoid a horizontal scar altogether. In general, while you can expect some scarring, your scars should generally fade over time, and while they may never totally disappear, they can be covered with a bra, swimsuit or low-cut top.

When Will I See The Results?

Breast reduction patients are among our happiest. The relief of neck and shoulder pain is immediate, and you’ll be able to enjoy a more proportionate look and feel to your body.

What Are Possible Complications Of A Breast Reduction?

During your breast reduction consultation with Dr. Zamora, the procedure will be explained in detail, as Dr. Zamora takes all the time necessary to find out about your goals for the surgery, in addition to discussing any possible complications of a breast reduction procedure with you.

How Long Will The Results Of A Breast Reduction Last?

The results of your breast reduction treatment are relatively permanent, which is why breast reduction with Dr. Zamora is so important to your wellness, happiness, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

How Much Does a Breast Reduction Cost in Daytona Beach?

Because each patient has a different goal in mind, with different sized breasts and unique aspirations, your breast reduction costs will vary. During your consultation, all of your questions will be answered, and Dr. Zamora will give you a better idea of what to expect for your fee. The fee charged for your care is based on a number of factors, including the difficulty of your operation and other factors related to your surgery. Fees are typically paid in advance, and in addition to accepting cash, checks, and most major credit cards, we also offer convenient financing.

Breast Reduction FAQs

How long does it take to recover from a breast reduction?

Most of our patients are able to make an initial recovery from their breast reduction within seven to 10 days of surgery. At this time they can typically return to their normal daily activities including work and school. It may take up to four to six months for all swelling to subside and the breasts to settle into their natural position. Dr. Zamora and his team may recommend avoiding high-intensity exercise throughout this time as well.

How painful is a breast reduction?

Your breast reduction will not be painful as Dr. Zamora and his team use general anesthesia throughout your surgery. Following your breast reduction procedure, Dr. Zamora will provide you with detailed post-operative care instructions to ensure you have a quick and comfortable recovery. Moderate swelling, bruising, and tenderness around your chest is normal and all side effects typically resolve within a few weeks of your surgery.

Do you lose weight after a breast reduction?

Many of our patients find that the numbers on the scale do not change much following their breast reduction. During surgery breast tissue, excess fat, and skin are removed throughout the breast reduction surgery. Patients do find they are better able to fit into smaller sized tops and dresses. That being said, breast reduction surgery should not be viewed as a weight-loss treatment.

Do breasts sag after a breast reduction?

Yes, your breasts can sag over the years following your breast reduction. It’s important to remember that receiving a breast reduction or any breast enhancement surgery does not prevent future signs of aging from appearing. To maintain your desired results for the long-term, we typically recommend wearing a comfortable, supportive bra every day and leading a healthy lifestyle.

Does a breast reduction include a lift?

Yes, your breast reduction surgery will naturally include a breast lift. Dr. Zamora and his team will take extra care to ensure that your breasts are not only lifted following surgery, but that they are symmetrical and proportionate to the rest of your natural features.
