Chin Implant
in Daytona Beach, FL

Looking to reshape or enhance your chin through surgery? Sergio M. Zamora MD, FACS offers chin implant or augmentation treatment, which is done for men and women who live in Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach and the surrounding communities in Florida, who wish to balance their chin with the rest of their face.

What Is A Chin Implant?

Sometimes, a weak chin can cause your nose to look larger or your neck to look “fleshy.” It can cause decreased self-esteem and/or lack of confidence. Chin implants are used on patients with small and receding chins, and a chin augmentation or chin contouring procedure can help you restore the balance to your face. Dr. Zamora is a renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon, someone you can trust to do the very best job possible for you, no matter what your dreams, desires, and personal requirements for a chin implant might be.

Benefits of a Chin Implant

If you want to change the shape and size of your chin to help strengthen your appearance or to help balance out your face, then chin implants, also known as chin augmentation, from Dr. Zamora may be a solution. When you step into the offices of Dr. Zamora, you will be confident that you are in the hands of someone who pays tremendous attention to detail. The goal of a chin implant from Dr. Zamora is to enhance your chin to create a well-defined, natural look.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate For A Chin Implant?

By inserting a chin implant, you can strengthen the appearance of a receding or a weak chin and create a stronger, more proportionate look. If you are a man or woman who is in generally good physical and mental health and you’re unhappy with the look of your weak chin, you may be a good candidate for a chin implant. Good candidates for this procedure are those who feel they have a weak or small chin or a misshapen chin due to defect or injury, which has affected the look of the chin, and ultimately the individual’s attractiveness.

What Do I Need To Do Before A Chin Implant?

You will find out ahead of time any changes you will need to make prior to the procedure. Typically you will be asked to stop smoking if you are a smoker at least two weeks before the surgery. We ask that you quit smoking because it helps you heal better and will aid in lowering your risk factors. Dr. Zamora will direct you not to eat or drink anything on the day of your surgery. Transportation arrangements should also be taken into consideration due to the anesthesia, bandaging, and discomfort when coming out of surgery.

IN OUR CLIENTS' OWN WORDS

What Should I Expect On The Day Of My Chin Implant?

The chin implant procedure begins with an anesthetic. For a simple implant, a local anesthetic can be used. The chin implant procedure, also known as mentoplasty, starts with Dr. Zamora making an incision under the chin or inside the mouth. A sizer is placed first to determine what size implant best enhances the proportion of your face. The sizer is then removed, and the appropriate implant is placed. The implant may be made of out of silicone, Teflon, or Dacron, and sometimes real bone or tissue can be used as well. Finally, your incision will be closed with sutures.

How Long Does It Take To Perform A Chin Implant?

Chin implant surgery is an outpatient procedure that commonly takes between 30 minutes to an hour.

What To Expect After A Chin Implant?

It’s not uncommon to experience some mild soreness and swelling following the mentoplasty procedure, causing your chin to feel tight. A patient can expect swelling and bruising when initially coming out of a chin implant procedure. A small level of discomfort can also be experienced within the first seven days. During this time, Dr. Zamora provides instructions regarding dental hygiene, eating, and restrictions on activities that could delay healing. To reduce the swelling, you should keep your head elevated as much as possible. We recommend you limit your activity for the first few days post-surgery but you will be back to work and normal activities within a week.

Will I Have Scars After Getting A Chin Implant?

During your procedure, a small incision is made in the natural crease line just under the chin or inside the mouth above where the gum and lower lip meet. Fine sutures are used to close the incision. If the incision is inside the mouth, no external scarring is visible. If the incision is under your chin, the scar fades over time, becoming almost imperceptible.

When Will I See The Results?

Having a weak chin can have a devastating effect on a person’s psychological well-being, but fortunately, with a chin implant from Dr. Zamora, you will be able to see your results of an improved facial profile with time after you recover from your procedure. The recovery process is slow and gradual, and you may not be able to enjoy the final results for several weeks.

What Are Possible Complications Of A Chin Implant?

During your chin implant consultation, the procedure will be explained in detail. Dr. Zamora will find out your goals for the surgery, in addition to discussing any possible complications of a chin implant and answering any questions that you may have.
